Samosa Tikki Chaat

Samosa Tikki Chaat – pan fried samosa tikki topped with chana masala, sweet & spicy chutney, yogurt, crunchy onions, tomatoes, sev, cilantro

Samosa Chaat is one of the most consuming street foods of India. I am sure many of you know that Samosa is deep fried goodie that has spiced up filling usually made with potatoes, peas & spices. The filling is coated with delicately flavored dough and then deep fried to crispy golden goodie. Samosa chaat is like taking samosas to the next level. Deep fried samosa is topped with pippin hot spicy tangy chana masala. And then topped with sweet & spicy chutney, yogurt, onions, tomatoes, crunchy sev, cilantro & spices. This samosa tikki chaat is a bit healthier version of original samosa chaat!

samosa tikki chaat

With all the honestly, I am not a big fan of making samosas at home from scratch. I find it a bit overwhelming and also prefer not deep frying food that much in my house. Hence this healthier version of samosa chaat. This samosa tikki chaat is spot on when it comes to flavors with a little less work required. Samosa tikkis are made with potatoes, peas, spices & lot of cilantro. Then coated with semolina to get that crispiness and pan fried/shallow fried with some oil. And then topped with everything I mentioned above!

samosa tikkin chaat

This is one of those dishes that is best to prep ahead. Make the tikkis (that freezes well), chana masala, spicy green chutney, sweet date & tamarind chutney ahead of time. Have onions, tomatoes, cilantro chopped ahead of time. And then it is just matter of warming tikkis and chana masala up. And then assemble it quickly on the day of! This also makes a great party dish, where you can have everything laid out separately and have your guest assemble it on their own based on their preference!!
