Mango Dalgona Lassi, loaded with creamy dreamy mango cream, plain rich yogurt based liquid and hint of cardamom saffron pistachio to give you the best summery beverage!

Lassi is a popular traditional yogurt-based Indian beverage. It is a blend of yogurt, water, spices, sugar and sometimes fruit. Salty lassi is similar to buttermilk, while sweet lassis are like milkshakes. One of the very popular lassis is Mango Lassi, specially during the mango season! If you have ever been to India during mango season, I am sure you know it’s like a haven of mangos LOL. There are so many ways to consume mangos whether its green unripe mangos or juicy ripe mangos.

I grew up in India, that being said I have enjoyed at least 23 mango seasons. I still remember my childhood days when my grand ma used massage these juicy mangos and let them sit in a tub full of cold water. Then she would sit us around the tab full of mangos with only underwear on. And then let us eat mangos, as many as we wanted and however we wanted. White she would prepare mango ras by taking juice out of those juicy mangos and strain it to make it super smooth, and give us the skin and the pit to lick it clean. We all used to get mango juice all over us and then show would give all of us a quick bath!

This mango lassi is so rich and creamy! It is like drinking iced cold Mango Shrikhand LOL. Yes, if you like mango shrikhand, you would LOVE this Mango Dalgona Lassi. The mango cream is full of amazing flavors of mango, cardamom, saffron and pistachio. The base of this lassi is simply made with yogurt, cold water and honey. It is very simple to make and dangerously delicious!

Mango Dalgona Lassi

Ingredients

Mango Cream

  • 1 cup Whipping Cream
  • cup Mango Pulp
  • cup Powder Sugar
  • cup Greek Yogurt
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 10 Saffron Strands

Yogurt Mix

  • 1 cup Plain Whole Milk Yogurt
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 2 cup Cold Water
  • ¼ cup Honey

Garnishing

  • 1 tbsp Pistachio Powder
  • 10 Saffron Strands
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder

Instructions

Prepare Mango Whipped Cream

  • Place all ingredients listed under "Mango Cream" in a bowl of a standing mixer or a big deep bowl.
  • Whip all mango cream ingredients together in a standing mixer or by using hand mixer until it becomes fluffy, thick and creamy.

Assemble

  • Mix 1 cup of plain greek yogurt, 1 cup of Plain Whole Milk Yogurt, 2 cups of cold water and ¼ cup of honey. Whip it lightly to get lassi like consistency. You can use more or less water, more or less yogurt depending on how thick or thin you like your lassi.
  • Take 4-6 glasses and add few cubes of ice.
  • Pour plain lassi evenly in all glasses till the glass is half way full over ice cubes.
  • Sprinkle some pistachio powder on top of plain lassi layer.
  • Pour the mango whipping cream on top of the pistachio powder layer carefully without mixing all together so you can see layers.
  • Sprinkle some more pistachio powder, cardamom powder and few strands of saffron for garnishing. Serve it ice cold!
