Bombay Chutney Sandwich
Bombay Chutney Sandwich loaded with fresh crunchy juicy veggies, flavored with green chutney & creamy thecha spread with touch of spice.
One of the most incredible part of India is their food, and there is no doubt about it! And that too the street foods of India. This Bombay Chutney Sandwich is a perfect example of that. It is simply made with whole bunch of veggies and some flavorful chutney/spread/spices along with cheese and butter. It is certainly one of the very basic and widely available street foods of India, and so easy to make it at home too!! There are few key things for a good Bombay Chutney Sandwich. To name them, CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY, garlicky spread, sweet & spicy Maggi ketchup, Amul cheese & butter. Of course, you cannot forget soft sliced bread (I like using, NATURES OWN BREAD HONEY WHEAT).
This is one of those foods that is not only delicious, but also full of nutrients due to all the fresh veggies. It is great for meal prep as well. Have all the veggies, CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY , garlicky spread that is simply a mix of Thecha Chutney & Cream Cheese ready! Then it is just a matter of assembling right before you want to eat it. This is sooo good on hot days when you do not really feel like cooking and want to have something light yet delicious!
There are hundreds of ways to make veggie sandwiches, but hands down this is one of my absolute favorite way! I urge you to try and experience it yourself why I feel the way I do about this sandwich! Instructions
Preparing chutney/spread/veggies
- Make Green (CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY) Chutney using linked recipe.

- Thinly slice all the veggies listed above. I like using a slicer to slice them, so that they all come out even and very thin!
Assemble Sandwiches (showing each step in a video above!)
- Each sandwich will need 3 slices of bread. Generously spread one side of three sliced bread with butter.
- On top of butter layer, Generously spread CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY. And spread cream cheese & thecha mix on third slice of bread.
- Layer sliced potato, tomato & onion on on slice of bread that has CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY. Then sprinkle sandwich masala. Top it with freshly shredded Amul Cheese.
- Place a sliced bread that has cream cheese & thecha spread on top of cheese layer, spread side down facing the cheese. Press the stack down gently with your hand.
- The other side of that bead (one you place on top of cheese layer), should have butter/chutney/spread on it yet.
- Go ahead and spread that slice with first butter, then cream cheese & thecha spread, then green CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY & then Maggi Hot & Sweet ketchup.
- Place sliced green pepper, boiled beetroot & english cucumber with sprinkle of sandwich masala. Top it with freshly shredded Amul Cheese.
- Now place the third sliced bread that has CILANTRO MINT CHUTNEY on top of cheese layer, chutney side down facing the cheese. Press the stack down gently with your hand.
