Bread Omelette
Quick and easy breakfast sandwich made with eggs, bread, veggies, spices, cheese and butter.
This is a very popular and affordable Indian street food. Many people in India stop by these egg stalls and grab quick bread omelette. It is very filling and satisfying! The original recipe does not call for cheese but I had to add a slice of American cheese to this breakfast dish as I really like the combination of red chili powder, garam masala and salt with American cheese!
I always start my day with healthy delicious breakfast and this is one of those. Specially on those cold morning I like to eat something hot and spicy! It surely wakes me up! You can use any veggie combination for this omelette, I like to use onions, bell peppers, cilantro, spicy green chili peppers and dry spices in my omelette!
My family loves this dish, hope yours does too!

- 2 tbsp Chopped Onions
- 2 tbsp Chopped Bell Pepper any color bell pepper would work
- 1 tbsp Chopped Cilantro
- 1 tsp Chopped Green Chili
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
- ¼ tsp Garam Masala
- ¼ tsp Red Chili Powder
- ½ tbsp Butter
- 1 slice American Cheese sliced pepper jack cheese tastes good too!!
Instructions
- Crack two eggs in a bowl and beat it well.
- Add chopped onions, bell peppers, green chili, cilantro and all the spices to the beaten eggs and mix it all very well.
- Add butter to a pan and melt it on medium flame. Spread the melted butter on the whole pan.
- Pour the egg mix out to the buttered pan and spread it evenly all over the pan.
- Immediately place 2 slices of bread right in the middle of the spreadded egg mix while it is runny and uncooked.
- Let the bread soak some egg mixture. Flip them and place it on the uncooked omelette again.
- Let the omelette get firm and cooked on the side that is facing the pan keeping it on medium flame. Cooking this omelette on medium flame is the key as we want to cook it slowly and not burn it!
- Once the omelette is firm enough to flip, flip it with bread so now the bread side is down facing the pan and firm omelette side is up.
- Let the other side cook as well on medium heat.
- Once the other side is cooked, place a slice of cheese on one half of the omelette and start folding side of the omelette that is off the bread.
- Once all omelette sides are on the bread partially covering the cheese, fold the one side of the bread omelette on the other.
- Let both bread slices get golden brown, adding more butter if like and flipping as needed.
- Sprinkle some chaat masala to the bread omelette and serve it hot with choice of side!
