Air Fried Chilli Fries
Indo Chinese air fried chilli fries coated with chili ginger garlic sauce and mixed with charred onions and bell peppers.
Indo Chinese cuisine is one of the very popular street food in India. This type of cuisine is loaded with spices like fresh ginger, garlic, chilis and fresh crunchy veggies like onions and pepper. Including some sort of core ingredient like paneer, tofu, mushroom, baby corn, cauliflower, mixed veg balls etc. I am sure you have heard of chilli panner, chilli tofu, chilli mushrooms etc. However this dish, chilli fries is not so commonly found as part of Indian street food.
This dish is loaded with fresh spices, onions and peppers, fresh herbs like cilantro and scallions. And core of this dish is air fried french fries! Yes, you read that right. Air fried french fries makes this dish very filling and healthish at the same time! It is super quick to make. And it makes a wonderful appetizer/side dish for a crowd.

Air Fried Chilli Fries
Ingredients
- 2 cup Frozen French Fries Walmart great value Crinkle Cut
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 cup Sliced Onions
- 1 cup Sliced Green Peppers
- 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 tbsp Grated Ginger
- ½ Sliced Serrano
- 1 tbsp Sriracha Sauce
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce use less if using dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp Rice Vinegar
- 2 tbsp Ketchup
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
- ⅛ tsp Salt
- 2 Chopped Scallions
- 2 tbsp Chopped Cilantro
- ½ tsp Toasted White Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- AIR FRY OPTION – Air fry frozen french fries on 400° for 10-12 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Once done, keep them aside. I used Crinkle cur frozen fries from Walmart- great value.
- BAKE OPTION – Preheat oven on 425° F, once pre-heated bake frozen fries for 15-20 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Keep it aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok/pan.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced serrano and chopped white part of the scallions.
- Once raw smell of garlic goes away, add sliced onions and green pepper.
- Saute them on high flame till they start to char but still crunchy.
- Add soy soy sauce, sriracha sauce, rice vinegar and tomato ketchup. Mix well.
- Add air fried french fries. Mix well again.
- Add salt (if needed) and pepper. Mix well.
- Garnish it with chopped white sesame seeds, cilantro and scallions. Serve them hot!
