Spicy Garlicky Mashed Potatoes
Spicy Garlicky Mashed Potatoes – known as bataka nu kachu in Surat city of Gujarat is an Indian version of creamy mashes potatoes loaded with garlic, cilantro, chives and some spices!
Mashed potatoes are very commonly made side dish during festive season!! It is buttery creamy deliciousness with delicate flavors. Growing up in India I did not know anything about this classic dish. Although I grew up eating similar dish called bataka nu kachu, one of the Surati specialties!
Bataka nu kachu has boiled potatoes and lots of fresh green garlic. It is mainly consumed during colder months since the green garlic is widely available during winter time. This super creamy goodie has lots and lots of garlic, oil, malai (fresh cream), milk, and some spices. It tastes amazing with simple phulka rotis!
I personally think this would make a great side dish for festive season! This creamy deliciousness adds amazing flavors to your festive meal. I personally prefer this garlicky spicy creamy mashed potatoes over classic one! If you end up making it and liking it, tag me on Instagram @myvegetarianroots. I would love to see your recreation of this creamy deliciousness!!
