  • 1 tbsp Chaat Masala
  • ½ Lime
  • ½ cup Semolina more or less as needed
  • Oil to pan fry tikkis

Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt thinned down using some water if too thick
  • 1 cup Thin Sev
  • ½ cup Freshly Chopped Cilantro
  • 1 cup Finely Chopped Red Onions
  • 1 cup Finely Chopped Toamtoes
  • 1 tbsp Spice Mix 1 tsp red chili powder + 1 tsp cumin powder + 1 tsp chaat masala + 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Prepare Samosa Tikki

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add in cumin seeds, saute till fragrant and deepens in color.
  • Add in pinch of hing and ginger chili paste along with turmeric powder. Saute it for 30-40 seconds, making sure it does not burn.
  • Add in chopped cilantro, mix well till it starts to wilt. Then immediately mix in boiled peas. Turn the heat off.
  • Add in red chili powder, cumin coriander powder, salt, chaat masala, garam masala. Mix well.
  • Add in boiled mashed/crumbled potatoes and lemon juice. Mix well, do not over mix as over mixing of potatoes can make the mixture soft/sticky/slimy.
  • Make even sized 12-14 patties out of the potatoe peas mixture.
  • Coat each patty with dry semolina. Pan fry each patty with decent amount of oil on both sides until they get nice and crispy with golden brown tint! Once done, keep them aside.

Assemble Chaat

  • Place one or two tikki on a plate. Top is with few scoops of hot/warm chana masala.
  • Sprinkle finely chopped onions & tomatoes.
  • Drizzle decent amount of spicy green chutney, sweet date tamarind chutney & thinned down yogurt.
  • Sprinkle generous amount of thin sev, some freshly chopped cilantro and pinch of spice mix mentioned above.
  • Serve it immediately!!
